The symposium challenged the design, construction, legal and academic professions to address the theory, practice and education of IPD & BIM. Shane Nault of Building EnergetiCx and Allen Angle of Business Resource Group spoke on “Commissioning and Real-Time FM Data Capture: The Future is Now”.

Commissioning is a process that enhances the delivery of a project for the entire project team, by verifying and documenting that the building systems are installed, tested, operated, and maintained to meet the owner’s needs. Weaving the commissioning process into an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) project should be a natural fit because it involves more participants at an early phase and encourages communication and collaboration throughout the project life.
