Ingersoll Rand | Buildings B & D Renovation
Davidson, NC
Project Size: Building B 79,000 ft2, Building D 52,734 ft2
Cost: Building B $17 Million, Building D $7.5 Million
Project Description:
Building B: Building EnergetiCx is providing LEED® enhanced commissioning and building energy simulation services for the renovation project. The renovation included a small addition, exterior reskin, and an infill for a second level in the existing office space. The new space supports 240 employees with offices, open floor plan with work stations, access to several conference rooms, breakrooms and has a showcase area for potential clients. Building B won the 2015 USGBC North Carolina Chapter Sustainability Awards for the Talking Walls category for small commercial buildings. This project is expected to receive a LEED® Gold certification from the USGBC.
Building EnergetiCx was engaged early in the design process to integrate into the team and provide design input and was a key member of the team submitting for the award. The project was able to achieve high energy efficiency goals by installing an ice thermal storage system, high efficiency chillers and implementing control strategies that work in concert with the thermal storage system. The team was able to utilize LED lighting fixtures throughout the project and yielded a savings of 40% over the ASHRAE baseline. A new building automation system (BAS) was installed that included control strategies such as load shifting, supply air temperature reset, fan pressure optimization, and enthalpy economizer. Commissioning was a key factor in ensuring that the systems were operating as intended.
Building D: Building EnergetiCx provided LEED® enhanced commissioning services for the renovation project. The renovation included a full interior remodel of the two story office building that supported 215 employees with offices, open floor plan with work stations, access to several conference rooms, breakrooms and an innovation room. Building D was a finalist for the 2014 USGBC North Carolina Chapter Sustainability Awards. This project has received a LEED® Gold certification from the USGBC.
Building EnergetiCx was engaged early in the design process to integrate into the team and provide design input. The project was able to achieve high energy efficiency goals by implementing several strategies that were working together in concert. The team was able to utilize LED lighting fixtures throughout the project and yielded a savings of 36% over the ASHRAE baseline. The HVAC system upgraded the building automation system (BAS) and included control strategies such as supply air temperature reset, fan pressure optimization, and enthalpy economizer. Commissioning was a key factor in ensuring that the systems were operating as intended.
